Commencing operations in country Victoria during 1974 ‘Maryborough Engineering’ and Fabrication Pty Ltd, the McCallum and Jeal families worked tirelessly to service the Electrical Power Industry and related industries with all types of transmission and Distribution Hardware, Metal Forgings and other related Engineered and Fabricated Steel products.

In 1982 the company re-located into leased premises in the Melbourne suburb of ┬áNorth Altona, mainly to be close to its major customers and raw material suppliers base. The main business focus of Maryborough Engineering was simply to ‘realise a respectable profit margin by only manufacturing selected quality products, all at competitive prices and a customer service level second to none’.

This focus is still very much mainstream in the present business environment. The company invested in new equipment including the installation of an electric induction furnace, producing
‘repeatable quality forgings with high production efficiency’ which is still leading edge technology today.

In April 2001, the company was acquired and renamed ‘MEFCO Australia Pty Ltd, trading as Maryborough Engineering and Fabrication Company.’ The equal equity partners are Peter McDonald, Managing Director, and Jim Mann, Financial Director.
